BIO
Constance Williams was born and schooled in Somerset, England, near the city of Bath, where she took advance art. She now resides in Asheville, North Carolina, in the US and is a full time artist. Currently, she finds her-self focusing on two mediums, sculptural hand built clay and encaustic painting. She took her first clay workshop January of 2006 at the Odyssey Center of Ceramic Art, Asheville, NC., and now has a studio in the River District Arts, Asheville, NC., where you will find her handbuilding figures, vessels and wall installations. Her encaustic painting (oil paint, bees wax, damar resin & pigments), is an extension of the way she manipulates her clay surfaces, probing subtracting and layering. She began encaustic painting in April of 2007. Her painting studio and gallery is located at 12 Riverside Dr. Asheville in the Curve building studios, across from 12 Bones Barbeque, and around the corner from her clay studio at the Odyssey Center for Ceramic Arts, 238 Clingman Ave.
