ARTIST STATEMENT

 It’s all about looking in new ways;

experimenting daily in my studio and

interpreting with a visual language of compressing

and exaggerating with my mediums, tools and a blow torch,

to create a tactile and emotional response, to open the mind

to a world beyond the obvious, escaping tradition and

enjoying anew again.

Inspiration always exists for me, and it finds me working every day.

The process is equally important and rewarding as the finished piece.

PAINTINGAlways searching for clarity, my surfaces reflect a fluid translucent world
in which movement and light constantly question outline, enticing you, the viewer,
to be suspended for a moment in time, at a famil
iar place,
with a sense of calm and exploration, tactile and or visual
.

CLAY - My surfaces often have a textile quality and fluid movement,
with a probing of form
s until they are encapsulated and cohesive.
All are hand built, contemporary in form, with a nod to antiquity in their finishing.

ARTIST BIO

Originally from Somerset, England, Constance majored in advanced art, and has had a number of
successful companies which always required that her creative skill sets be put to good use,
most notably as co-owner of PDG, as well as CEO and owner of the award-winning, international Constance Williams Collection, which raised the bar in the greetings industry and set new standard for collaborative efforts between businesses and social programs. Traveling and living in different parts of the world has influenced her mediums, she is alway searching for clarity. Settling in the Asheville area in 2004 was the natural result of spending so much time in the mountains of Western North Carolina, where the misty Smoky Mountains have inspired so many of her landscapes scenes and abstracts
You will find her most days working in her open studios/gallery in the heart of the River Arts District.

Constance Williams' Fine Art is in homes and businesses around the world, and has been seen on public television, in numerous print and on-line publications, such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, ARTSEE Magazine, North Carolina Home+Garden, Verve Magazine, Rapid River Arts & Culture Magazine and The Laurel of ASHEVILLE. In 2010, she was a featured artist on QVC on Carolyn Pollack's travel series, was just filmed in Summer of 2011 for the Asheville Convention & Visitors Bureau's tourism campaign and her paintings were used in the SHOWTIME series HOMELAND airing Oct-Dec 2011.
Constance served as President of Asheville's historic and famous River Arts District 2010-11.

Constance currently exhibits some of her largest works in the Sammons Wing/
